Guided Prayer – Week 1
PASSAGE: MATTHEW 26:36-38
Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.”
PRAYER
Father, we come before You in humility, recognizing the weight of this moment. In the garden, Jesus carried the sorrow of the world, overwhelmed yet obedient. Today, we bring before You those who are burdened, those who feel the crushing weight of trials, and those who are walking through their own Gethsemane. May Your presence be near, just as it was with Jesus in that sacred place of surrender.
Lord, may we know that You as the God who watches, the God who weeps, and the God who walks with them. Just as You did not leave Jesus alone in His sorrow, You will not leave us. Strengthen us. Hold us. Remind us that Sunday is coming, that resurrection follows the crushing, and that joy will rise from sorrow.
In Jesus’ mighty and compassionate name, Amen.
